Themes

Updated over 5 months ago

Themes allow you to customise the look and feel of your Photohawk pages and galleries so they align with your brand identity. With a range of styling options, you can ensure your galleries look professional, cohesive, and uniquely yours.

What You Can Customise

Photohawk’s theme editor gives you full control over your visual branding. You can update:

1. Logo

Upload your own logo to display across your gallery pages. Adjust sizing using Logo width (pixels) to achieve the perfect fit. Here you can also personalise your Favicon (browser tab icon).

2. Colours

Choose custom colours for:

  • Main colour

  • Text colour

  • Contrast text colour

  • Background colour

  • Background text colour

  • Footer background colour

3. Fonts & Text Styles

Select and size the fonts used across your galleries to match your brand identity.

Background Images for Pages

When creating a Page and personalising the theme, you can also upload a background image to further personalise your storefront. This image sits behind your gallery listings and helps reinforce your visual style.

Once uploaded, you can customise how the background image behaves:

  • Repeat X (horizontal): tiles the image across the page

  • Repeat Y (vertical): tiles the image down the page

  • No repeat: displays the image once

  • Positioning controls: choose how the image aligns (top/centre/bottom/left/right)

Any text displayed over your background image will use your Theme settings for colour and contrast, so make sure your selections are easy to read against your chosen image.

This level of personalisation allows you to create event-specific landing pages, branded storefronts, or fully themed experiences depending on your business needs.

Account Theme (Default Theme)

The theme you create in your account becomes your default “Account Theme.” This theme is automatically applied to every new page or gallery you create. This ensures consistency across your work and helps speed up your workflow so you don’t need to customise each gallery from scratch.

Creating Custom Themes for Individual Events

If you want a specific gallery to have a different look - for example, event branding, sponsor colours, or seasonal styling - you can create a custom theme.

To do this:

  1. Open your gallery

  2. Go to Gallery Settings

  3. Select the Theme tab

  4. Under Theme Type, choose or create a custom theme

This allows you to override the default Account Theme and apply unique branding for that event only.

Previewing Your Changes

After adjusting colours, fonts, or logos, click “Update.” You’ll see your changes reflected immediately in the Preview area so you can fine-tune your design.

Upcoming Improvements

We’re currently developing a side-by-side visual editor to make theme customisation even easier. This will allow you to adjust settings on one side while previewing the changes in real time on the other. Thank you for bearing with us while we continue improving this area - we know this update will significantly streamline your workflow.
