Why do customers need to upload a selfie? Is it stored?

To search for your photos, your selfie needs to be temporarily uploaded to our server so our AI facial recognition can compare it against the images in the gallery and return any matching results.

This is known as a transient process.

Once the search has been completed:

  • Your selfie is not stored on our servers.

  • It is only used for the duration of the search.

  • The selfie is deleted once the search has finished.

Photohawk does not keep a database of uploaded selfies following a search.

Why is this necessary?

Our facial recognition technology needs access to the uploaded selfie to compare facial features with the photos in the gallery. This temporary upload allows the AI to process the search and quickly return any matching images.

Without uploading the selfie, the search cannot be performed.

Key points

  • Selfies are uploaded only to perform the search.

  • The upload is temporary (transient).

  • Selfies are not stored after the search is complete.

  • No database of uploaded selfies is retained by Photohawk.
